Why Solicitors Instruct Jack Ross
Solicitors need a forensic accountant who delivers work product that stands up to cross-examination. That means reports that are properly structured, compliant with CPR Part 35 or FPR Part 25, and written by someone who will attend court and defend every figure. We have built our forensic practice on that standard for over 75 years.
When you instruct Jack Ross, you deal directly with the expert who will write the report and, if required, give oral evidence. We do not delegate analysis to junior staff and present a senior partner at trial. That direct relationship means you get faster responses to questions, clearer communication on technical issues, and a named expert your client can have confidence in.
Our forensic accounting services cover the full range of instructions solicitors encounter: business valuations for financial remedy proceedings, asset tracing where disclosure is suspected to be incomplete, loss of profits quantification in commercial disputes, and expert witness appointments across family, civil and criminal jurisdictions.
Our Approach: Impartial, Thorough, Court-Ready
Every instruction we accept is treated with the same rigour, whether we are acting as a Single Joint Expert appointed by both parties or as a party-appointed expert for one side. The expert's duty is to the court, and that principle shapes everything we do, from the way we frame our opinions to how we present our conclusions.
Our reports follow a structured methodology: instructions received, documents reviewed, factual background, analysis, opinion, and conclusions. Each report includes a statement of truth and a declaration of the expert's duty to the court, as required by Practice Direction 35. Where our analysis reveals findings that do not support the instructing party's case, we say so. Solicitors who instruct us understand that an expert who advocates rather than analyses is a liability in contested proceedings.
We hold ICAEW and ACCA memberships, providing the regulatory framework and professional indemnity cover that solicitors rightly expect. Our team's qualifications also include CIOT and ATT, which means we can advise on the tax consequences of proposed settlements without needing a separate tax instruction.
